BUILT Trailers Limited Warranty
PLEASE READ THIS LIMITED WARRANTY CAREFULLY. It defines your rights and the obligations of Built Manufacturing LLC, and it limits BUILT's liability. Registration and compliance with the owner responsibilities and maintenance requirements below are conditions of coverage.
This Limited Warranty (the “Warranty”) is extended by Built Manufacturing LLC, doing business as BUILT Trailers (“BUILT,” “Manufacturer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), to the Original Purchaser of a new BUILT-branded trailer (the “Trailer”). This Warranty sets forth the complete and exclusive terms of BUILT's warranty obligations and supersedes all prior or contemporaneous statements, brochures, and representations regarding warranty coverage.
1. Definitions
- “Original Purchaser” means the first retail consumer who purchases the Trailer, new and unused, from BUILT or a BUILT-authorized dealer for purposes other than resale.
- “Trailer” means the BUILT-branded trailer identified by the Vehicle Identification Number (“VIN”) on the registered warranty record, together with components manufactured by BUILT.
- “Structural Components” means the main frame, neck/tongue, and cross-members fabricated and welded by BUILT.
- “Third-Party Components” means parts and accessories not manufactured by BUILT, including but not limited to axles, springs, hubs, bearings, brakes, tires, wheels, couplers, jacks, winches, lights, wiring, and hardware.
- “Maintenance Schedule” means the BUILT Trailers Routine Maintenance Schedule published by BUILT, as amended from time to time, which is incorporated into this Warranty by reference.
- “GVWR” means the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating shown on the Trailer's federal certification/VIN label, being the maximum permissible loaded weight of the Trailer.
- “Authorized Service Center” means BUILT or a dealer or repair facility authorized in writing by BUILT to perform warranty inspections or repairs.
2. Warranty Coverage and Periods
Subject to the conditions, exclusions, and limitations in this Warranty, BUILT warrants to the Original Purchaser that the Trailer will be free from defects in material and workmanship attributable to BUILT, under normal use and service, for the applicable periods below. All coverage periods begin on the date of delivery to the Original Purchaser. This Warranty does not cover Third-Party Components except as a pass-through of the component manufacturer's own warranty.
| Coverage | What it covers | Period |
|---|---|---|
| Limited Structural Warranty | Main frame, neck/tongue, and cross-members against structural failure (cracking or separation) resulting from a defect in BUILT material or workmanship. | 1 Year |
| Factory Welds & Workmanship | BUILT-performed welds and assembly workmanship against defects causing failure of a Structural Component. | 1 Year |
| Factory Finish (Coating) | Defects in the application of the factory finish (e.g., adhesion failure, blistering from a coating defect) — not environmental or wear damage. | 1 Year |
| Third-Party Components | Pass-through only — covered solely by the warranties of their respective manufacturers (see Section 6). | Per component maker |
3. Eligibility, Registration, and Transfer
- Eligibility. This Warranty extends only to the Original Purchaser and only to a Trailer purchased new from BUILT or a BUILT-authorized dealer. It does not apply to demonstrator, rental, fleet, auction, salvage, or resold units except as expressly agreed by BUILT in writing.
- Registration (condition of coverage). The Original Purchaser must register the Warranty through the BUILT owner portal at owner.builttrailers.app within thirty (30) days of the date of purchase, providing the VIN, model, and purchase information. Failure to timely register may, to the extent permitted by applicable law, limit or void coverage.
- Transferability. This Warranty is non-transferable and terminates upon any sale, assignment, or transfer of the Trailer to a person other than the Original Purchaser, unless BUILT consents to a transfer in writing through an authorized dealer.
4. Conditions of Coverage
The following are conditions precedent to any obligation of BUILT under this Warranty. Failure to satisfy any condition may, to the extent permitted by law, suspend or void coverage for the affected claim:
- The Trailer has been used only for its intended, ordinary purpose and has at all times been loaded within its GVWR and within the rated capacity of its axles, tires, and couplers.
- The Trailer has been maintained in accordance with the Maintenance Schedule, and the Original Purchaser can produce reasonable records of such maintenance upon request.
- The Trailer has not been modified, altered, repaired, or serviced in a manner that contributes to the claimed defect, except by an Authorized Service Center.
- The Warranty has been registered as required by Section 3, and notice of the claimed defect has been given as required by Section 8.
5. Owner Responsibilities
To keep this Warranty in effect, the Original Purchaser is responsible for, at the Owner's expense:
- Performing all routine maintenance described in the Maintenance Schedule, including re-torquing lug nuts at the specified intervals, inspecting and repacking wheel bearings, and inspecting bunks (boat/pontoon/watercraft trailers) and decking (utility/UTV/landscape trailers).
- Keeping the Trailer clean and protected from corrosion, including rinsing the Trailer with fresh water after each exposure to salt water, brine, or road salt.
- Properly loading, securing, and distributing cargo, and maintaining correct tire pressure and condition.
- Promptly addressing any condition that could lead to further damage, and ceasing use of the Trailer when continued use could cause or worsen damage or create a safety hazard.
- Providing notice of any claimed defect as required by Section 8.
6. Third-Party Components
Third-Party Components are not warranted by BUILT and are covered solely by the separate warranties, if any, of their respective manufacturers. BUILT will, upon request and where reasonably able, assist the Original Purchaser in identifying the responsible component manufacturer and forwarding the manufacturer's warranty information. Any claim involving a Third-Party Component must be pursued with that component's manufacturer in accordance with its warranty terms.
7. Exclusions and Limitations
This Warranty does not cover, and BUILT shall have no liability for, any of the following:
- Damage caused by loading or operating the Trailer beyond its GVWR or beyond the rated capacity of any axle, tire, wheel, or coupler.
- Normal wear-and-tear items, including tires, brakes, brake components, bearings, lights, bushings, floorboards/decking, bunk carpet and bunk boards, rollers, fasteners, and finish wear.
- Surface and finish conditions, including stone chips, scratches, rust, oxidation, fading, chalking, or corrosion resulting from environmental exposure, salt water, road salt, chemicals, abrasives, or pressure washing.
- Damage from accident, collision, fire, theft, vandalism, flooding, storm, or other casualty or act of nature; misuse, abuse, neglect, or improper storage; or use of the Trailer for any purpose for which the specific model was not designed (including “off-road” use of a model not rated for it).
- Damage caused by failure to perform the Maintenance Schedule, by improper maintenance or repair, or by the installation or use of non-conforming or incompatible parts or accessories.
- Modifications, alterations, additions (including welding, drilling, cutting, or adding accessories), or repairs not performed by an Authorized Service Center.
- Trailers whose VIN has been altered, defaced, or removed, or for which the Warranty was not registered as required.
- Cosmetic conditions that do not affect the structural integrity or intended function of the Trailer, and conditions arising from improper towing, an out-of-spec or improperly matched tow vehicle, hitch, or ball.
- Any Third-Party Component (see Section 6).
8. How to Make a Claim
- Notice. The Original Purchaser must notify the original selling dealer or BUILT, in writing, of any claimed defect within ten (10) days after the defect is discovered or reasonably should have been discovered, and in all events before the end of the applicable coverage period.
- Required information. The claim must include the Trailer VIN, the Original Purchaser's contact information, the date and a description of the defect, and clear photographs or other reasonable evidence of the claimed defect. Claims may be submitted and tracked through an authorized dealer at dealership.builttrailers.app.
- Authorization & inspection. BUILT must authorize any warranty repair before work begins. BUILT or its designee may require the Trailer (or the affected part) to be made available for inspection at an Authorized Service Center and reserves the right to inspect the Trailer and review maintenance records before approving any claim. Repairs performed without prior authorization are not covered.
- Transportation. Unless otherwise required by law or agreed in writing, the Original Purchaser is responsible for transporting the Trailer to and from the Authorized Service Center and for any shipping of parts to or from BUILT.
9. BUILT's Remedy — Sole and Exclusive
For any valid claim under this Warranty, BUILT's sole obligation, and the Original Purchaser's sole and exclusive remedy, is limited to one or more of the following, at BUILT's option:
- Repair of the defective part or condition at an Authorized Service Center;
- Replacement of the defective part or component with a new, reconditioned, or functionally equivalent part; or
- Refund of the prorated value of the Trailer or affected component, based on age and use, where repair or replacement is not commercially feasible.
Repaired or replaced parts are warranted only for the remainder of the original applicable coverage period. BUILT does not authorize any dealer, agent, or other person to assume for BUILT any additional liability or obligation in connection with the Trailer.
10. Disclaimer of Other Warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS THE ONLY EXPRESS WARRANTY MADE BY BUILT. ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE DISCLAIMED. WHERE AN IMPLIED WARRANTY CANNOT BE DISCLAIMED, IT IS LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE PERIOD OF THE APPLICABLE EXPRESS WARRANTY ABOVE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THIS LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUILT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOST PROFITS, LOSS OF USE, RENTAL OR SUBSTITUTE TRANSPORTATION, TOWING, RECOVERY, STORAGE, FUEL, LODGING, OR DAMAGE TO CARGO OR OTHER PROPERTY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE TRAILER OR THIS WARRANTY. BUILT'S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE PURCHASE PRICE PAID FOR THE TRAILER. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THIS LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
12. Your Legal Rights
This Warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state. Nothing in this Warranty is intended to limit any rights you may have under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act or applicable state law that cannot be limited or waived. To the extent any provision of this Warranty conflicts with a non-waivable right under applicable law, that provision is modified only to the minimum extent necessary to comply, and the remainder of this Warranty remains in full force and effect.
13. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
- Governing law. This Warranty is governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
- Informal resolution. The parties will attempt in good faith to resolve any dispute relating to this Warranty informally before commencing any formal proceeding.
- Venue / arbitration. Subject to applicable law and any non-waivable consumer rights, any dispute not resolved informally shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Washington County, Utah; or, where the parties so agree in writing, resolved by binding arbitration administered under the rules of a recognized arbitration provider, with each party waiving any right to participate in a class or representative action.
14. General Provisions
- Entire agreement. This Warranty is the entire and exclusive statement of BUILT's warranty obligations and supersedes all prior representations.
- Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect, and the unenforceable provision is reformed to the minimum extent necessary.
- No waiver. BUILT's failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of its right to do so later.
- Amendment. BUILT may revise this Warranty prospectively; the version in effect on the date of the Original Purchaser's purchase governs that Trailer.
- Assignment. The Original Purchaser may not assign this Warranty except as permitted in Section 3.
- Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
